Volunteer of the Month
Leah Scott

Leah was born in Salem, Oregon, and was raised in the Portland area.  She met her husband Les in The Dalles, a city located 70 miles east of Portland, and they were married in 1952.  They moved to Berea, Ohio, but returned to Oregon in 1957.  They have 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Leah retired from the Portland Public School District, where she worked for 20 years as a cafeteria manager.  They moved to Port Charlotte in 1992, and she started volunteering at the Cultural Center in 1998, working at the theater and the box office.  Since May, 2006, she is volunteering at the Information Desk.

Leah states that she has made many wonderful friends at the Cultural Center, and that it is a great place to volunteer.  She should know; she has volunteered over 4,500 hours!  We thank her for her dedication, and encourage everyone to meet her at the Information Desk!
